New Book Release: 100 Years of Dude Ranching Celebrates the DRA Centennial
In celebration of the upcoming 2026 centennial of the Dude Ranchers’ Association (DRA), the DRA, Ranch Preservation Foundation, and the Dude Ranch Foundation are proud to announce the release of a remarkable new coffee table book, 100 Years of Dude Ranching: Celebrating the Centennial of the Dude Ranchers’ Association.
This extraordinary volume chronicles the evolution of dude ranching over the past century through the lens of award-winning photographer Scott T. Baxter. Over the course of a year, Baxter captured modern life at 26 DRA member ranches, pairing contemporary images with historic context to showcase how each ranch has grown, changed, and carried forward its unique legacy.
Complementing the photography is an engaging history of the DRA and the development of dude ranching written by historian Lynn Downey. Her narrative traces the roots of dude ranches—recognized as the West’s first destination vacation—and explores the enduring traditions that continue to shape the industry today.
Produced in collaboration with the Ranch Preservation Foundation and the Dude Ranch Foundation, this book honors a century of western hospitality, heritage, and adventure.
Proceeds from the project benefit the Dude Ranch Foundation and support our mission to preserve and promote the history of dude ranching for future generations.
Don’t miss your chance to own this extraordinary keepsake.
