ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

On many dude ranches in the small hours of the morning, horses are gathered from their pastures and driven to ranch headquarters during a daily ritual often called “The Wrangle.” Ranch guests gather to listen to pounding hooves as their vacation companions arrive to the ranch for the day’s activities, repeating a tradition that has been in existence for decades.

This selection of images by Scott T. Baxter captures the landscapes and people of historic dude ranches that have existed for a century or longer.
